Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua recently banned the viral ‘takataka’ song by Alvindo from Radio and TV stations in Kenya.
However, despite the ban, Mutua revealed it was shocking to hear that the producer has launched the video despite the ban and the summons to appear before the Board. There’s absolutely no heroism in despising a ban by Government.
“The culprits will serve as an example that the war against unrated films and dirty content is not empty talk. There will be nowhere to hide for people who break the law with impunity in the name of creativity,” .Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, MBS
Mutua further stated that police are also narrowing down on the producer and composer of the song.
Mutua then said that the board has recorded a statement with the Police after the singer and his producers failed to honour the 14-day summons.
If the singer and the producers are heroes why not advertise where they are performing or surrender to the @PoliceKE? For how long are they going to do the hide and seek game with the police while bragging on social media how they have called our summons bluff? Who is losing?Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, MBS
“The song ‘Takataka’ remains banned in all platforms and any DJ playing it anywhere is in breach of the law. How is such misogyny an achievement? How does hiding and having to switch off your phone the whole day for fear of arrest a success?Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, MBS
Anyone who knows a performance anywhere in the country by @alvindotaka can inform us or the @PoliceKE. The producer’s phone went on in the evening and police nearly pounced. But he called and said he will present himself with his lawyer on Monday. @InfoKfcb @IG_NPSDr. Ezekiel Mutua, MBSDr. Ezekiel Mutua, MBS
We recorded a statement with the @PoliceKE after the singer and his producers failed to honour the 14-day summons. Now we are waiting for @DCI_Kenya to arrest and charge these guys in court. Their phones have been off and they can not perform anywhere in Kenya. @InfoKfcbDr. Ezekiel Mutua, MBS
Following this the composer and producer of this song will be appearing before the board on 2nd May at their registered offices.
In the meantime here is Alvindo’s new song ‘Kunguni’
The truth is there is more than enough love, creative ideas, power, joy, happiness to go around 😘 😘
